Why should I do this course?

Dutch is an accessible and fun language to learn! Dutch at the University of º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ offers a brand new online Dutch course, specially designed for people who want to learn Dutch from the comfort of their own home.

Join an informal community of learners that work together in small groups with a highly experienced university tutor.

Dutch is an accessible Germanic language spoken by 25 million people  across the Netherlands, Belgium, Suriname and parts of the Caribbean. It is also consistently in the top five of languages most frequently requested by UK employers.

Course content

Our classes are all about using Dutch in real situations, from ordering food and drinks in a restaurant over buying groceries at the market to making small talk.

In the first ten weeks of this course we will focus on pronunciation, spelling rules, thematic vocabulary, verb conjugation and basic sentence structures while diving into some cultural features of the  Low Countries as well. We also have our own online Dutch grammar channel to help you learn and practise.

With a bit of effort and dedication you will be able to handle most social situations at the end of the course. Commitment to the course is rewarded with a certificate of completion. You can find more information about our Dutch course on this page.

Textbook:  (edition 2018 or later). You will have to buy your own copy of the book which is also available as an E-book and comes with plenty of extra online material.
