UI supports º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ students gain work experience

Over the last 3 months the Urban Institute has received part-time event and administrative support from Aya Rajab, a 3rd year student studying Economics and French at TUoS. We asked Aya to share her experiences of working with us.

 Aya Rajab

Aya was drawn to the part-time role as it was hybrid which offered her the flexibility of working in the UI office, event venues and also remotely which meant she could fit it into her study schedule; plus, the hourly rate was competitive.

Aya undertook many different tasks, including writing reports, analysing data, attending meetings, creating posters, responding to emails, note-taking, preparing materials and liaising with colleagues. She also attended and supported the production of all the events and workshops that were held to ensure they ran smoothly. Aya particularly enjoyed attending the events as she enjoyed communicating with external guests and then listening to their talks and presentations.

It is great to be able to provide the opportunity for º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ students to gain paid work experience with the Urban Institute. Aya has been a brilliant member of the team and has demonstrated a high level of organisational, practical and academic skills in supporting a number of our strategic activities.

Professor Beth Perry, UI Director

The UI wishes Aya the very best in her future studies. In the short term, Aya is excited to spend the next year in France and Switzerland as part of her degree, studying modules in business and French. She is also looking forward to travelling around Europe, learning about different cultures and experiencing lots of new things. In the longer term, Aya plans to continue her studies and obtain a Master’s degree in the hopes of pursuing a career in international economics and working in a francophone country.
