Orientation Events     

Monday 16th September - Friday 20th September 2024

Our events during Orientation Week are running every day so please do come along and say hello!

Tuesday 17th - Thursday 19th September   

BNBR Life Centre stall, Students' Union Plaza (opposite Welcome Desk),
10.00am - 2.00pm

A chance to find out about the BNBR Life Centre and the services, activities and support we offer to everyone of all faiths and of none.

Thursday 19th September

Mindfulness Walk, meet on Students' Union concourse, 12.00 noon - 1.00pm

Practising mindfulness can help with stress, anxiety, depression, addiction, and chronic pain, and open us up to joy, love, self-compassion and a greater sense of connection with ourselves and others. Mindfulness can also be called ‘present moment awareness’, and involves being present in the ‘now’ through non-judgemental observation of yourself and your surroundings.

Friday 20th September

Quiet Spaces Around Campus Tour, meet on Students' Union concourse, 11.00am - 12.00 noon

Take a walk around campus and discover quiet spaces, safe spaces and peaceful outdoor spaces for when you need some time out!

Sunday 22nd September

Muslim Prayer Room Tour, 4.00pm - 8.00pm

A  chance for new Muslim students to visit the main prayer rooms and see the facilities. Sisters will meet at the Students' Union at 4pm, Brothers will meet at the Diamond (west entrance) at 4pm. The tour will finish with prayer and food at Rockingham House (for brothers) and Steelworks (for sisters). This event is being run by the USIC student society.


Welcome Week Events

Monday 23rd September - Friday 27th September 2024

During Welcome Week our events are running as below.  On Tuesday 24th and Wednesday 25th September come and visit us at the Activities and Discover º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ Fairs.

Tuesday 24th September

We will be at the Activities Fair!  Come and visit our stall and find out about the BNBR Life Centre and the services, activities and support we offer to everyone of all faiths and of none.

Wednesday 25th September

We will be at the Discover º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ Fresher's Fair!  Come along and see us there and find out about the BNBR Life Centre and the services, activities and support we offer to everyone of all faiths and of none.

Thursday 26th September

Muslim student welcome, Firth Hall, Firth Court, 5.00pm - 8.30pm

A chance for new Muslim students to meet the Muslim Chaplain, other Muslim students and find out more about the Muslim Chaplaincy.  Meal provided.

Week One Events

Monday 30th September - Friday 4th October 2024

Wednesday 2nd October

Christian student networking event, BNBR Life Centre, 2.00pm-3.30pm

Meet other Christian students and find out about local churches. Hosted by the Christian Chaplaincy in the Gathering Space at 9 Mappin Street, floor 2. 

Thursday 3rd October

Hindu Temple visit for Navratri, 7.00pm

A chance for new Hindu students to visit the Temple at the start of Navratri and meet other Hindu students and our Hindu adviser. Check back for more details.

Friday 4th October

Peak District Walk, meet at º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ train station, 9.55am

Join Student Experience Diversity & Inclusion (SEDI) and the Belief, No Belief & Religious Life Centre (BNBR) for a walk in the Peak District. 

We will get the train from º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ to Grindleford for our walk and leave from Hathersage back to º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½. This event is open to all students, and SEDI communities students are particularly welcomed. You will need to purchase your own train ticket, this can be done on the day.
